FUNERALS

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God's keeping.  This can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.

Some services will involve a cremation which takes place after (or sometimes before) a church service, at the Tunbridge Wells crematorium. Burials in Bidborough Cemetery may be possible for residents of the village, and Southborough families may want to think about Southborough Cemetery as a final resting place.

Everyone is entitled to a service (funeral) at their local parish church regardless of whether they attended church or not.

If you need to organise a funeral, do get in touch with Stephen to talk about the date, time and the service itself.

HOPE

The message at all Church of England funerals, wherever they happen, is one of hope. Although there is sadness because someone you know and love has died, in every Church of England funeral there will also be a message of hope in life after death.

Memorial Service

Each year we hold a Memorial Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for those who have died, which you are welcome to attend.
